Purpose

I’ve spent more than 25 years as a teacher, professional musician, administrator, and lifelong student. I created this site with the purpose of sharing my experience, ideas, and knowledge in a way that I hope will benefit those who are interested to learn, and by doing so, strengthen the broader arts community.

This site is built for parents, students, and teachers. I’ve compiled many of the resources, ideas, questions, concepts, and strategies I’ve acquired over the years and plan to share them gradually over time. It’s my hope that my modest contribution will add a positive note for visitors in their own musical journeys. You can access them in the Teaching Portal or by clicking here.

For those of you reading, if you learn even just one new insight or generate one new idea for yourself, then that result will be enough to have made this site worth it.

core values

  • Inspire

Inspiration is a deeply personal and subjective experience that varies from person to person, and even from one moment to the next. It can come from a variety of sources, including personal experiences, emotions, cultural influences, other musicians, and other art forms such as literature, visual art, or dance. Cultivating inspiration ensures a lifetime of passion and motivation.

  • Educate

Education helps individuals develop their knowledge, skills, and abilities, which can help them grow and improve personally, providing a sense of personal fulfillment and satisfaction, as individuals learn new concepts and achieve their goals. For parents and students learning music, for teachers seeking new ideas, education is a means of ensuring a more fulfilling future.

  • Share

Sharing questions, ideas, and experience is the stage of a thriving community in music and the arts. Parents seek out methods to motivate their children to practice, teachers seek out new ways methods and solutions, and administrators construct the structure to connect. Sharing our commitments and challenges with each other is what generates successful outcomes.

  • Create

The act of creating is the ultimate goal for people in the arts community. It involves taking existing materials, ideas, or concepts and using them to produce something that did not previously exist. The act of creation is an important part of human experience and has the power to inspire, educate, and transform both individuals and society as a whole.
